“He who walks in his uprightness fears the Lord, but he who is perverse in his ways despises Him.”
Proverbs 14:2
It is more rewarding and fulfilling when you fear the Lord i.e. when you reverence Him.
Here are some advantages of having “the fear of the Lord”:
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” (Psalms 111:10). The Lord will grant you wisdom as He did for Solomon.
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.”(Proverbs 1:7). He will give you knowledge that no man will be able to doubt like Daniel.
“The fear of the Lord prolongs life.” (Proverbs 10:27). The Lord is the giver of life and length of our days therefore as He has promised and He is faithful; He will not deny you a long fulfilled life in Him.
“In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence.” (Proverbs 14:26). As David was able to face and defeat Goliath because of his trust and confidence in the Lord so you will be able to defeat all that will contend with you. And when you stand before kings and judges, the Lord will give you the words to speak with boldness.
“The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life.” (Proverbs 14:27), such that fears God enjoys life in abundance because Jesus came to give us life in abundance.
“The fear of the Lord is the instruction for wisdom.” (Proverbs 15:33). The Lord directs the path of those who fear Him.
“By the fear of the Lord one keeps away from evil.” (Proverbs 16:6); when the fear of God is in you, you will never desire to do evil.
“The fear of the Lord leads to life.”(Proverbs 19:23); the one that fears God will walk with Him and He will guide him to eternal life and glory.
