16th March 2021 – God’s Salvation – An Antidote For Fear

We continue on yesterday’s word of encouragement not to fear. Fear is something we contend with. I read this about D. L. Moody having a discussion with a woman and she told him that she had found a verse to help her when she was afraid, Psalm 56.3 “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” He responded that he had a better verse that keeps him from being afraid, Isaiah 12.2 “Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.”

 Some fear is positive; one can keep us from harm, one can teach us respect for God and gains benefit. Proverbs 14:26-27, “In the fear of the LORD one has strong confidence, and his children will have a refuge. The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life and that one may turn away from the snares of death.”

However, as we discussed yesterday some fear is paralyzing and to conquer this type of fear we MUST embrace Jesus as our savior, hold to God’s promises and embrace His Spirit.

An antidote for fear simply is to trust in the salvation of the Lord which is in Christ Jesus. If you are yet to accept Jesus in your life as Lord and savior, I will be glad if you can today and He will surely cast all your fears away by praying this simple prayer:

‘Father, I confess that I am a sinner and ask that you cleanse me with the precious blood of your dear Son and make me clean. Lord Jesus, I accept you today as my Lord and Saviour and ask that the Holy Spirit come into my life and take control from now onwards in Jesus name.’
