Monday, June 7th – Draw Near to God.

Approach the Father, He so desires your fellowship after all He created you for Himself to enjoy. Then He will see your intent in wanting to get closer and He as the gentleman His will is to come near to you not barge in only when He is desired and welcomed.

Satan’s goal is to drive a wedge between you and God. Distancing from God is done uncon- sciously, you just become preoccupied; self-centered or over committed and before you know it, prayer is limited to ‘good morning Jesus’ or grace over meals, bible reading to the pastor’s sermon and worship to listening to songs. Distancing is a subtle drift, not a sudden dash, Satan’s goal is to separate you from God and His blessing and so you become vulnerable to his attack.

Distancing from God is a choice, your choice and not God’s choice. His promise is that ‘He will never leave us nor forsake us’. Whatever your circumstances, God remains faithful. He will come near to you all you need to do is take a step in His direction and He will close the gap, embrace, secure and enable you to stand up to anything the devil throws at you.

The moment you come near to God, you become aware of your condition and all your attempts at self-improvement won’t work because His grace is the only basis on which He can relate to you. God points to your defeat zone not to condemn you but to cleanse you. He knows that dirty hands enable Satan to accuse you before Him and so He tells you to cleanse your hands.

 Purify your heart, your heart generates and stores your beliefs both constructively and destruc- tively. Once you form a belief you begin to live it out, therefore you must turn your heart to God and not be double minded.

 When we obey God’s invitation to draw nigh unto Him, even if He scolds us for bad acts , He will never depart from us without blessing us and making the trip to His presence worth the efforts it took to get there. Yes, beloved, we are changed from “glory to glory” from being in His presence time after time. The only way Christ will ever see the refection of Himself in us is to spend time in His presence! In His presence God reveals His grace, His mercy, His compassion, His longsuffering, His love and so much more.

Accept His invitation today and draw near to Him.
