“Honour your father…”
 Ephesians 6:2

We are commanded by our Heavenly Father to honor our earthly fathers and mothers. Not only are we commanded to do this, we should want to do it regularly.

I remember my late father who passed on to glory almost three years ago, today which is just two days away to his birthday and not just today but most times of the good things he taught me and his good heart, he was not a perfect father, but he was a good father who loved me and my siblings, provided for us, protected us, and tried to guide us as best as he could.

Many of you men are able to do things today because your father taught you how. You need to be thankful for the skills your father taught you. Prov. 15:5 “A fool spurns his father’s discipline, but whoever heeds correction shows prudence.” You need to thank God today if you had a father who loved you enough to take the time to discipline you.

Fathers, you must demonstrate love to your children by not jus providing for them but also caring for their emotions. As they love us, we as children too must honour them even if they are no longer with us by showing respect for the good values they taught us.

Brethren, thank God for loving fathers and strive to imitate that love to them as well as others. God bless you fathers and bless you in your walk through life. Happy father’s day.
