“By your patience possess your souls.”

Luke 21:19

Many Christians lack patience in this area of their lives. They want what they want when they want it. If we are to please God and live victorious lives, we must learn to patiently wait for God’s timing. It takes time for him to answer some of our prayers, but he knows best when to grant the answers.

Patience is required when it comes to doing God’s work. The results may be slow in coming. We should work for God patiently and willingly, giving him first place in our lives, seeking to do those things which please him.

When God makes you wait for something longer than you want to, He is teaching you pa- tience. Your impatience will just make you and everybody around you miserable but it will not rush God. He works according to His own plan and timetable, you are in a hurry but he is not; He takes time to do things right. God takes every opportunity to develop in you the fruit of patience as well as other fruits.

We must watch with patience for Christ’s return. When man’s predictions fail, people often are tempted to lose faith in the second coming. Nevertheless, we must continue to waich for his com- ing with diligence. “Watch therefore; for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come” (Matthew 24:42, 44). Jesus promised it so we know it is true. He said, “I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also” (John 14:3). Watch with patience and win your soul to eternal life reigning with Christ.
