Then they said to one another, “We are not doing right. This day is a day of good news, and we remain silent. If we wait until morning light, some punishment will come upon us. Now therefore, come, let us go and tell the king’s household.”

2 Kings 7:9

If a scientist discovered the cure for cancer, we would expect the discovery to be shared worldwide. General belief is that good news must not be kept secret.

When the king of Syria laid siege to the city of Samaria, the food supply was cut off. Four men with leprosy deciding it would be preferable to die at the hands of the Syrians than to starve went to surrender to the enemy but when they got to the camp they found it deserted, the army had fled in the night. Food lay everywhere, the four men ate until they were filled and they were tempted to remain silent about the good news. But then they remembered their suffering people in Samaria and said to themselves “we do not do well” and so they went back to Samaria to spread the good news, they became evangelists.

Tragically, that’s what many of us who belong to Jesus Christ do day after day. We keep feasting on the Jesus banquet, filling up with more and more blessings while never telling the spiritually starving people we know about our Jesus. We can’t imagine one day without Jesus, and they’ve never had one day with Him. And without Him, they have no chance of being in heaven with you.

God is trying to open your eyes to the life or death emergency that’s right in front of you. He’s put you on the scene where you could save some lives, where you could rescue some spiritually dying people. As inadequate as you may feel, you’re the one that Jesus placed in their lives so you could help some of those folks be in heaven with you!

The lepers realized that they couldn’t keep the good news to themselves. That is like us reaching out to our family, friends, neighbours, and foreigners with the Good News. There comes a time when we should no longer keep the blessings to ourselves, but share it with others.

Get involved in sharing Jesus with everyone. The more you share Jesus with others, the stronger you will be in your own Spiritual Life. Get busy, share what Jesus has done in your life with others. Let His name sound forth, from every part of this land let the name of Jesus ring forth.

Souls won are our glory and joy before Christ. To have a part in changing a life through the power of God is a great dignity and privilege.
