But Jesus said, “Let her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a good work for Me.

Mark 14:6

The woman in the story of Mark 14:3-6 was overwhelmed by love and she found a way to express it. In essence she was saying, “With the same enthusiasm that I once gave to the sins of the world, I now give myself to You.”

Now meditate on that for a moment, have you ever stopped to think what a difference would be made in the church if we could become as enthusiastic for Jesus as we have been enthusiastic for other things? This is the world cup period for football (soccer) and hundreds of thousands of people all over the world are either in the stadium or glue to their TVs at home or someplace to watch the matches to cheer on their favourites.

And when you got into the stadium you would often find yourself sitting among inconsiderate people blowing smoke in your face, and spilling their drinks around you. You would cheer yourself hoarse, hollering and screaming and behaving like some kind of fanatic. You would pay too much money for a snack and watered down drinks, and to some they would have paid a lot of money to travel to Brazil, booked accommodation worth thousands of Dollars and at the end you would tell anyone who cared to listen, “I had a wonderful time!”

Have you ever stopped to think what a revolution could take placed in the church if we were that enthusiastic for the things of God? Well, that woman was and without hesitation or reservation she found a way to express it.

Jesus was delighted in her gift, for it came from a heart of love. What would you like to give to Jesus to show your love? Is it your time, talent, treasure? It does not matter if it is costly or inexpensive, whether others understand or criticize. Just know that whatever is given from a heart of love is acceptable and beautiful to Him.
