Wednesday, September 8th – Be Strong And Courageous

Few of us will ever be thrust into a position of leadership with duties of that magnitude, but most of us know the feeling of inadequacy in the face of a great responsibility we are about to assume. It might be that of taking on a new job, getting a promotion at work, choosing a spouse, becoming a parent, or accepting a new ministry in Sunday school or church.

When we face a new challenge, we can take courage from the Lord’s words to Joshua (1:9). We can accept our opportunity as from Him and believe that He will give us all we need to do it well. If we meditate on His Word, obey it, prayerfully rely on Him, and work diligently, He will do the rest. He will equip us for the task. God’s call to a task includes His strength to complete it.

And just like Joshua, God knew about the giants that we would face, God knows that about you today. If you are going to fight for God’s purpose in your life you are going to come up against the impossible. You are going to walk into situations that are bigger than you. And as you stand there, looking at that giant that is in your way, you will have the choice to make, Will you be discouraged, or will you stand firm on the Promise of God.

God is with you when you are winning and He is with you when it feels like your world is spinning out of control. God is with you wherever you go. If you confess with your mouth, if you believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord, then you are His and He is with you.

And that is what you need to be strong and to be courageous. You need the creator of the Universe to be standing on your side, standing with you and standing for you. You need for the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords to be fighting for you and with you. You need for the Prince of Peace to be going before you, you need for the Saviour of the World to be saving you and you need for the Great I AM to become your identity and the rock on which you stand.
