7th April 2021 – The Tongue

The tongue is without doubt the most difficult member of the body to control. It is also the most powerful. Words have brought about great victories and great defeats. Words have changed the course of history.

If you still use your tongue to curse and swear, you have a serious problem. It means that your tongue is still glued to the chain of the enemy. What kind of witness are we if we talk like that? Let’s look at it this way; if you have a cup that is filled with water and you bump it; what should come out of it? It is definitely going to be water. If we are filled with Holy Spirit, and we get bumped, what should come out? We can’t have a negative mouth and expect to effectively witness.

We must continually check what we are saying. We must be careful who we speak to, how we speak, when we speak, and where we speak. When we lose control of our tongue, our whole life can spiral out of control, and what’s worse, is we can misrepresent God. Therefore, the key to a successful life is to ask God to get a firm hold on our tongues.

The things that we say are not a product of our mouths; they are a product of our spiritual condition. If we want to have spiritual growth, the tongue is one of the first things that Christ wants to have under His influence. Note that our words have a direct correlation with our own spirituality if we don’t exhibit control over our tongues, we can render our religion of no value.
